Somatic Therapy
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) is a somatic (body-based) talk therapy developed by Pat Ogden, PhD. SP uses mindfulness of the body as an entry point to healing all sorts of traumatic experiences, from car accidents to childhood trauma. Helpmate is a domestic violence agency in Buncombe County that provides a variety of free and confidential services to victims and survivors of domestic abuse. Helpmate offers a 24-hour hotline (828-254-0516), individual and group counseling, court advocacy, temporary emergency shelter for women and children, child and family advocacy, community education and professional training.
